Open Access

The Center for Ethnic and Cultural Studies (CECS) is committed to promoting the free dissemination of scholarly knowledge through open-access publishing. All articles published in CECS journals are made immediately and permanently available online to readers worldwide without subscription fees or access restrictions.

All articles published by CECS journals are distributed under an open access model. This means that:

  • Readers have free and unlimited access to the full text of all articles published in CECS journals.
  • Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of articles without prior permission from the publisher.
  • Published material may be reused, shared, and adapted, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and the source of publication.

CECS supports the principle that scholarly research should be freely accessible to the global academic community and the public.

Article Processing Charges (APC): To support the editorial process, peer review management, digital hosting, and long-term preservation of articles, CECS journals may charge an (APC) for accepted manuscripts. APCs may be covered by authors, their institutions, or research funding agencies. Any applicable publication fees are clearly stated on the journal website. Editorial decisions are based solely on the academic quality and scholarly merit of submissions, independent of an author’s ability to pay publication fees.

Peer Review and Quality Assurance: All manuscripts submitted to CECS journals undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process conducted by independent experts in the relevant field. This process ensures the academic quality, integrity, and reliability of published research.

 Benefits of Open Access Publishing

Open access publishing offers several important advantages:

High Availability and Visibility: All published articles are freely accessible online without subscription or pay-per-view charges. Open access research is more easily discovered through search engines, academic databases, and indexing platforms.

Increased Citation and Research Impact: Open access articles are generally more widely read and cited due to their unrestricted availability, increasing the visibility and impact of scholarly research.

Rapid Dissemination of Research: Open access journals allow for the rapid online publication of accepted articles, facilitating the timely dissemination of new research findings.

Repository and Self-Archiving Policy

Authors are permitted to deposit and share their articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, and personal academic websites. Authors may archive the submitted version, accepted manuscript, or final published version of their articles, provided that the original publication in the CECS journal is properly cited and linked to the article’s DOI. This policy supports the long-term accessibility and dissemination of research.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright to their published work. By publishing in CECS journals, authors grant the journal a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher.

All articles published by CECS journals are distributed under the CC-BY license,

Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0)

Under this license, users are free to:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
  • Use the material for any purpose, including commercial use

Conditions

  • Attribution — Appropriate credit must be given to the original author(s), the journal, and the source of publication. A link to the Creative Commons license must be provided, and any changes made to the material must be clearly indicated.

This license ensures that research published by CECS journals can be widely shared, reused, and built upon while maintaining proper attribution to the original authors.

Copyright Transfer

CECS journals do not require authors to transfer copyright ownership. Instead, authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right to publish and distribute the article under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

Because articles are distributed under the CC BY license, anyone may copy, distribute, transmit, and adapt the work, provided that proper attribution is given to the original authors and the source.

Digital Preservation Policy

CECS is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and integrity of the scholarly content published in its journals. To safeguard the scholarly record, CECS implements reliable digital preservation strategies that guarantee permanent access to published articles.

CECS journals utilize recognized digital preservation systems to ensure that published content remains accessible even in the event of technical failures or disruptions. These preservation systems maintain secure copies of all published articles and ensure that the content can be restored if necessary.

All published articles are archived in the journal’s online platform and are preserved through digital archiving systems designed to support long-term access to scholarly publications. These systems enable libraries and trusted repositories to maintain permanent copies of the journal’s content.

In addition, CECS encourages authors to deposit copies of their published articles in institutional repositories, subject repositories, and personal academic websites. This distributed archiving approach helps ensure broader accessibility and long-term preservation of scholarly work. Through these digital preservation practices, CECS aims to maintain the permanent availability, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record for researchers, institutions, and the global academic community.
